Most guys just want to know what they need to buy and how to wear it. Here are some important items that you can wear this summer and also wear until next summer. You can buy these things with confidence that they are essentials. This is certainly not a complete list but it’s a good start. I thank Cosmo Bachelor Shane Meaney for showing how these looks can work.
Cardigan: this will be in style for a while! You can wear it with a v-neck tee, oxford dress shirt or (as shown) with a gingham dress shirt. I would suggest buying a very lightweight style.
Suit: If you buy a slim-fit suit (shown JF from jcp.com) in either gray or brown you have many options on how to wear. You have a jacket with jeans, you have slacks with a dress shirt and you have a suit.
Vest: this is very cool now. You can wear it with a tee or a shirt so it can be daytime or night out.
Shoes: I would suggest investing in a comfortable pair of black loafers right now. These are classic and are just starting to become important so they should last you at least a couple years. Remember, you should pay extra for shoes that are comfortable and will last.
Shirts: the key is preppy and as I mentioned the best 2 investments right now are a classic cotton oxford and a small check gingham shirt.
Ties: honestly a must have (which might be hard for some of you) is a bow tie. You can buy them pre-tied. This can be worn with suit, vest, jeans or khakis. A bow tie or regular tie are great… just think classic preppy style
Pants: You should have a great fitting jean that is clean and dark; please not back pocket stitch. You should also have a great worn-look chino in a khaki color. Neither of them should be baggy; the trend is clothes that fit close to your body. Keep them clean looking and classic.
